Косоглазие (гетеротропи́я, страби́зм) - постоянное или периодическое неправильное положение глаз, характеризующееся отклонением одного или двух глаз от общей точки фиксации и нарушением бинокулярного зрения. Гетеротропия является не только косметическим дефектом, влияющим на психику и формирование характера детей, но и сопровождается выраженным функциональным недостатком. Ввиду отсутствия бинокулярного зрения наблюдается ограничение в восприятии внешнего мира, движении и ориентировке в пространстве.
Strabismus (heterotropy, strabism) is a permanent or periodic misalignment of the eyes characterized by the deviation of one or two eyes from a common visual axis and violation of binocular vision. Heterotropy is not only a cosmetic defect that affects the psyche and formation of the children`s character, but also is accompanied by expressed functional deficiency. Due to the absence of binocular vision, the perception of the external world, movement, and orientation in space are limited.
